Enhancing Channel YES for a Seamless Digital Media & Content Experience

Enhancing Channel YES for a Seamless Digital Media & Content Experience
- 90%+Post-launch satisfaction rate
- 6 monthsFrom UX redesign to migration
Project Overview
Savvycom partnered with YES24 to revamp Channel YES, its cultural webzine for book reviews, author interviews and curated reading lists. Over two phases and six months, our team redesigned the reader experience and the admin panel, then migrated the 20-year-old legacy system to a modern, secure platform integrated with YES24’s e-commerce ecosystem.

About The Client
Established in 1999, YES24 is one of South Korea’s leading online bookstores and cultural content platforms. Over the years, it has evolved beyond book retail to offer e-books, music, performance tickets, and multimedia content. To further strengthen its engagement with readers, YES24 launched Channel YES, a cultural webzine featuring book reviews, author interviews, and curated reading lists, seamlessly integrated with its e-commerce platform.
Challenges
Channel YES had long been a leading platform for literature and culture, but two limitations held back its growth and user satisfaction:
- Outdated UX/UI: The interface was not intuitive, making content discovery tedious and hurting customer engagement and retention.
- Legacy System Constraints: Built over two decades ago, the system was slow, incompatible with modern technologies, and hard to scale or extend with new features.
During the revamp, Savvycom’s team also faced:
- Delayed Communication Flow: No direct communication with the end client delayed requirement confirmation and decision-making.
- Complex Data Migration Process: Strict security policies restricted access to detailed documentation, making it hard to map and migrate data from the old system to the new platform.

Solutions
Savvycom deployed a team of a Project Manager (PM), PM Assistant (PMA), Quality Control (QC) specialists, Back-End developers, Front-End developers, and Business Analysts (BAs), working in 2 structured phases:
- Phase 1 (2 months): UI/UX design and requirement analysis.
- Phase 2 (4 months): Implementation and system migration.
Key strategies:
- User-Centric UX/UI Overhaul: Redesigned the admin panel with structured categories, topics, and content filtering to improve navigation.
- Clear Timelines & Requirement Confirmation: Detailed timelines aligned client expectations and accelerated decision-making.
- Regular Communication & Reporting: Weekly and daily meetings for progress updates, Q&A sessions, and issue resolution.
- Comprehensive Documentation: Detailed project guidelines for smooth onboarding of new team members.
- Efficient Data Migration with On-Site Collaboration: Working onsite with the client’s IT team ensured secure data migration under strict security protocols.
- High Code Integration & Quality Standards: Structured coding practices met high-quality standards in review sessions with the DBA team, delivering a more stable and secure product.

Results
- Revamped Channel YES Website & Admin System: A full UI/UX transformation delivered a modern, user-friendly interface that improves navigation and content discovery, integrated with YES24’s e-commerce ecosystem. The homepage is organized into categories so users can easily find content that suits their interests.
- Optimized Admin Panel: Streamlined content management with structured categories and topics. All critical legacy features were preserved, and new functionalities improved workflow automation and operational ease.
- Improved Performance & Security: Modernizing the 20-year-old legacy system improved speed, stability, and security, with data integrity maintained during migration under strict security protocols.
- High Client Satisfaction & Business Impact: A post-launch survey showed a 90%+ satisfaction rate. With modern infrastructure, YES24 is now positioned to expand its content offerings, engage a growing audience, and scale for future innovations.
